Last month I blogged about the Great Laguna Beach fire of 1993. We received some amazing responses to the post from locals who lived in Laguna at the time. We wanted to share some of these stories with you because as Laguna Local Doug Miller put it: “this is history”.
On this very day in 1993, a few So Cal Edison workers spotted flames in Laguna Canyon. These flames would result in the “The Great Fire of 1993”, which consumed more than 16,000 acres, destroyed/severely damaged over 400 homes, and caused $528 million dollars in damage.
The Laguna Beach City Council voted on Tuesday to extend an existing moratorium on new short term rental permits until Oct. 1 2016 to give city staff time to craft an amended ordinance.
