Laguna Restaurants

Lately I have received a lot of requests for restaurant recommendations. I figured it was time for a dedicated blog post! Here are some of my favorite places to eat in Laguna.

O Sushi – 30872 S. Coast Hwy
Without a doubt my favorite Sushi restaurant in town. The fact that we are on a first name basis with most of the waiting stuff probably tells you enough… What to get? We love the rainbow roll, Spicy Poke Bowl, Super Poke and Sashimi roll, anything with salmon (the salmon is very good here) and the Scallop hand rolls.

Zpizza – 30822 S. Coast Hwy
A favorite among the locals. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the options here. Nothing fancy, just good pizza. Plus they have pretty tasty gluten free crust.

Lumberyard – 384 Forest Ave
Located in one of the most historic buildings in Laguna Beach, Lumberyard serves lunch and dinner and is known for its American food. Think: rotisserie chicken, steaks, ribs and seafood, as well as down-home favorites such as meatloaf, chicken pot pie, cobb salad, and spaghetti and meatballs. They have pretty good $10,- lunch deals.

La Sirena Grill – 30862 S. Coast Hwy
Named for the street where the original location started, this restaurant is famed among locals for its tasty American-Mexican food and beers. I have to admit that my husband and I get lunch here at least once a week. What to get? Chicken Wrap (off menu item), Carne Asada, Carnitas or Calamaris tacos, any of the Torta options (try a whole wheat wrap instead of a bun!) and Chicken Tortilla Soup.

Brussels Bistro – 222 Forest Ave
A little European gem. Brussels Bistro has brought the best in Belgium flavors to the heart of Laguna Beach. Relax on the terrace with a premium Belgian beer or dine underground in a casual-urban setting. On Friday and Saturday nights the Bistro transforms into a nightclub.

Wahoo’s Fish Taco – 1133 Pacific Coast Highway
If you’re hanging out on one of the beaches in town and you’re ready for lunch, this is the place to go. Easy, casual Mexican food at a decent price. Plus they won’t frown if you come in wearing your beachy outfit! My husband is a big fan of the fish burrito, I like the Power Chopper Salad and the Citrus Slaw Tacos.

Banzai Bowl – 1100 S. Coast Hwy
Now this is the perfect meal on a hot day. Fruity, icy Acai bowls topped with crunchy granola, Smoothies and Pitaya Bowls. They offer healthy and less-healthy options. I love going here when it is warm outside. You can grab your bowl to go and walk to the beach. My favorite? The Sharks Cove!

Wine Gallery – 1833 S. Coast Hwy #110
A great place to enjoy a glass of wine and tasty food. Catch up with friends or family over a glass of wine, or have a nice, intimate dinner.

Natraj Cuisine of India – 998 S. Coast Hwy
If you like Indian food, I’d highly recommend this restaurant. Sure, it doesn’t look all that great on the inside with the fluorescent lighting and big mirrors along the walls… But the food is great! The Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag / Palak Paneer and (Lamb) Vindaloo are my favorites. Come here at lunch and you can enjoy the $10 lunch buffet.

Starfish – 30832 S. Coast Hwy
An exotic and hip Asian Fusion restaurant. Great place to get cocktails and appetizers during Happy Hour or have a nice dinner. My go-to choices are: The Bahn Mi beef sliders. Korean Galbi Tacos. Chicken lettuce wraps and the Seared Ahi Salad. From what I hear however, all the noodle and rice dishes are amazing as well.

Rooftop Lounge – 1289 S. Coast Highway
What makes this place great is its unique location. The Rooftop Lounge offers a front row seat for a spectacular sunset or beautiful beach day. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and offer Happy Hour. Definitely worth visiting as this is one of few restaurants offering tables with an ocean view. Just don’t try to go here on the weekends…

C’est La Vie – 373 S Coast Highway
Another restaurant offering a great atmosphere and outdoor ocean-front seating. Locals and visitors alike are drawn to the ambiance and relaxed atmosphere of the outdoor patio. The seafood quiche is quite good here.

Cafe Zoolu – 860 Glenneyre Street
This funky quasi-polynesian cafe is casual and hip without being trendy. This restaurant is known for their incredible swordfish but they won me over with an amazing Tuna steak salad. Here you will find high quality seafood prepared Hawaiian, Asian, Mexican or Cajun style.

The White House – 340 S. Coast Highway
The White House Restaurant & Nightclub in Laguna Beach is almost certainly the oldest, restaurant in Orange County. First established in 1918, it later became very popular with Hollywood Stars when they would come to dine and hear the latest popular music by the sea in Southern California. Totally renovated and remodeled, this is a restaurant worth visiting. You can choose to people watch on the patio outside, or have a nice, more quiet dinner inside.

Heidelberg Café – 1100 S. Coast Highway
Heidelberg has been serving breakfast and lunch for over 20 years. This is one of those places where the locals love to go for a cup of coffee and some breakfast. You’ll find typical American breakfast options, fresh baked pastries (can’t help but love their muffins) and amazing homemade raspberry jam.

The Stand – 238 Thalia St.
The Stand offers fresh, vegan food. This is a small, liberal fast food joint with outdoor seating and a huge menu. They use a handful of whole-food vegan ingredients such as: avocados, refried beans, hummus, salsa, brown rice, quinoa, fresh veggies, and whole wheat breads and tortillas. They combine these into a huge variety of options, including sandwiches, burritos, rice bowls and dips. They also sell fresh soups, juices and smoothies.

The Studio at the Montage– 30801 S. Coast Highway
An elegant dining experience featuring fine French-American food in an artistic, Craftsman-style restaurant at the edge of the Pacific. The restaurant offers impeccable ocean and sunset views right from your dining table.
